Joel Chadd grew up in the valley of Oregon, surrounded by the natural beauty of that thriving landscape. His passion for photography started a very young age, looking through the lens of an old Canon camera, winding and shooting with no film.

As he studied the work of Ansel Adams, he quickly found a desire to pursue black and white photography, and started to nourish that excitement with much time spent in the darkroom of the Oregon State University Craft Center. Later moving to Bend Oregon in 2005, his eyes were open to the colorful landscape of the high desert.

Joel has since resided in Bend Oregon pursuing his art through photography, music and fine woodworking.

“When words become unclear, I shall focus with photographs. When images become inadequate, I shall be content with silence” - Ansel Adams.

This is what I pursue through my art. I look to be present wherever I am, so that I may capture the many moments in time that go unnoticed. Photography for me is the best excuse to explore new places and environments that I've never experienced before. That being said, it is also an excuse to revisit those past landscapes, and to view them in a new "light." Because, while nature is constantly changing, I also am changing with my perception and view, of this beautiful life.

What I have found through those journey's, is that you must except that some moments in time are unable to be captured with a photograph and are better left as a beautiful memory.
